First of all, let’s learn about its name, “Muckraker”. What exactly is a Muckraker? The term, “muckraker” originated back in the early 1900’s and is basically the term for an investigative journalist. Tom, the friendly owner of Muckrakers was a reporter for 24 years before he decided to open his own brewery…thus the name.
The building itself is clean, well kept, and has an ample seating area with beautiful pictures adorning the walls. The seating and tables are simple but nice. The atmosphere in the tasting room is relaxing, cozy, and pleasant. The wine barrels and beer vats are stored in separate rooms and can be observed by the customers. The establishment is child, family, and pet friendly. There is an outdoor patio available for up to 40 people when the weather is good.
Muckrakers primarily makes wild and fresh Spontaneous beers that are made from fruits, grains, and malts mainly all harvested in New Jersey. Spontaneous beers chiefly use a lot of fruit. Most of their beers are Belgium-based ales. Many of the beers are very tart..so, if you are into great tasting, sour/snappy, the most creative tasting beers you have had…this is the place for you!!
