* Pearl River was originally known as “Muddy Creek.” It was once a deserted area and was purchased in 1870 by Julius E. Braunsdorf (who invented the carbon arc light bulb, six years before Thomas Edison) , who wanted to develop it into a company town.

*Julius Braunsdorf (also known as the “Father of Pearl River”) established Aetna Sewing Machine Company to produce his patented home sewing machine in 1872.

If you are searching for a good craft brewery…this is not it. The Gentle Giant is a GREAT craft brewery!! Located in the town of Pearl River, New York, we found that the bartender/waiter, Dan Nolan, and his coworkers, are some of the nicest, most welcoming and cordial people that you will ever meet. We were instantly given a warm welcome and made to feel right at home. We have visited there a couple of times before and every time we have visited…the results were the same, friendly and helpful beer, and best of all…a wide assortment of all kinds of tasty brews!

The tasting room / bar room itself has a simple warehouse, rustic, wood look. It contains a nice stage in the front corner (which by the way hosts many awesome bands on a regular schedule), with nice wooden country-style tables and chairs, and a few large screen TV’s on the walls. The room is a modest sized area with a big American flag adorning the wall over the kitchen area. There is a “Mug Club” deal that is offered which includes some pretty cool benefits if you decide to join! There is outdoor seating available as well if you would prefer the great out-of-doors.

The brewery offers a wide assortment of concoctions and all of them are not only tasty, satisfying, and savory…there are always new and exciting drinks being created. This is a cool little story…the Gentle Giant offers a Mexican beer, the “Dos Piedras Gigantes Mexican Style Lager” that was created by THREE BREW MASTERS! The owners of the Gentle Giant (Matthew Worgul), Two Ladders Brewing Company, and Stony Point Brewing Company (David Lugwig), got together and created this great tasting drink just in time for Cinco DeMayo! You have to try it out! I am sure that you will love it! It is available at all three locations. Their “go-to” beer is the favorite “Citrazoic” IPA…crisp and savory. There are ten beers on tap featuring all kinds of IPA’s, sours, lagers, Irish Reds, along with White Claws, hard ciders, and wines!

Food is available as well and it is all very good. The menu includes pizzas, all kinds of sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps, and…the best of all…the BBQ food! The ribs and brisket is their specialty and believe me folks…it is absolutely scrumptious! Check out the burnt pastrami tip…YUMMY!

The Gentle Giant has all kinds of entertainment and food specials throughout the week  such as live bands, Bingo nights, Trivia nights, and more! There are plenty of fun things to do at the brewery.
