Imagine that you are a member of Washington’s army in the winter of 1777 as well as the extremely cold winter of 1779-1780. You are tired and weary and you finally have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy that soothing and savory ale…how glorious it feels as it travels down your throat and fills your belly…and for that one moment in time…you are happy, fulfilled, and content. Fast forward to our modern time. You are tired and weary from a long day at work. You want to go to a place to relax in a friendly environment, feel welcome, and bask in the company of happy and cheerful bartenders and clientele. Well, the Glenbrook Brewery is just the place to visit! Located in the middle of historical Morristown, New Jersey, you will find this fabulous drinking hole that will be sure to satisfy your desire for good quality and flavorful colonial ales, and other drinks. It is child, pet, family friendly, and has a plethora of games to choose from!
Upon entering the spacious tasting room, you will notice the big fermentation, brite tanks and vessels that are used to make the luscious beers. Everything you see is made from Morristown including the tables and benches…they truly are beautiful works of art! The bar is made up of stone with a wooden top. The brewery is so very good at maintaining the history of Morristown while keeping the tradition of the town and the Revolutionary War. There is an upstairs area, overlooking the main floor tasting room, called, “The General’s Quarters” that is a cozy little area complete with pictures of George Washington including one that is 1 of only 1000 ever made of George Washington on a white horse (see attached picture). The brewery also works in concert with the 2nd Regiment Helms Company who are Revolutionary War reenactors.
I cannot say enough by how much my wife and I felt welcomed and accepted by the amiable and friendly bartenders. The general manager of the Glenbrook Brewery, Connor, was simply a terrific individual to communicate with. His love for both the brewery and the local history of Morristown was fascinating. His love for traditional colonial beer and how it is woven within the history of Morristown left us with a positive and gratifying experience. What a fabulous young man!
The Glenbrook Brewery is for REAL beer drinkers who enjoy good quality traditional beers. The beers generally have lower percentages of APV but the lower level of alcohol are replaced by GREAT tasting and savory traditional beers..much like were made in the times of the Revolutionary War. All of their beers are made by their own beer makers that have nailed the recipes perfectly! Besides the traditional ales, they have a wonderful Czech pilsner, numerous IPA’s, and Sours. There is other good news…all of their beers are brewed by an award winning Head Brewer and owner, Heath Traver!
The slogan of the Glenbrook Brewery is “Revolutionary Beer”…and it certainly is that! You will LOVE the tradition-style beers and brews that Glenbrook creates. I am sure that you will leave the beerhouse as a happy and content individual…proud of the American heritage that began many years ago.
CHEERS!
