Fun Facts About Cranford, New Jersey

*The Cranford Canoe Club, also known as the Cranford Boat & Canoe Company, is one of the oldest canoe clubs in the United States

*How Did Cranford Get Its Name? In 1849, on the Fourth of July, some children were having a Sunday School picnic at Josiah Crane’s farm. They had such a good time that in thanks to him, they jokingly chalked “Craneville” in large letters on the side of a building.

The Yale Terrace Brewery (YTB) is a brewery that has been 25 years in the making! Co-owners Pete Merrigan and his friend, Tom Brisco began brewing their own homemade concoctions in the basement of Pete’s parents basement in West Orange, New Jersey. Can you guess the name of the street he lived on? That’s right!! Yale Terrace…thus the name given for the brewery, the “Yale Terrace Brewery”

Yale Terrace Brewing Company is a small craft brewery in Cranford, NJ. It may be small in size, but believe me, folks, it is big on friendliness and tastes. The brewery has an Irish theme decor and is a cozy and relaxing place to enjoy a brew with your friends and family. The bar is a nicely crafted wooden structure and the bar stools are cushiony and very comfortable. There is also a small outdoor area to sit on a nice day (or night).

There are 9 brews available, and be assured… there IS a drink for you! There are varieties of IPA’s, stouts, and sours. Their four original brews are the #17 Cream Ale, #26 Oatmeal Stout, #34 Vienna Lager, and the very interesting #161 Habanero West Coast IPA (and believe me…it has a kick!) The Yale Terrace Brewery makes over 40 kinds of beers year round with the liquid refreshments changing on a rotating basis in relation to the different seasons.

The atmosphere is very neighborly and welcoming…you will feel right at home. Complete with plenty of bar games, three dart boards, and an awesome array of eateries surrounding the establishment, you are certain to have a great time there. There are even dart leagues that are run every week for all of you dart fans! If you ever get the opportunity to speak with one of its owners, Pete, he is a great guy, willing to answer your questions, and is a joy to speak with…he will be sure to make you feel right at home.
