Fun Fact about the River Horse Brewing Company

*Founded by two homebrewing brothers in Lambertville, NJ, on the Delaware River, River Horse was named in reference to the hippopotamus, an animal whose name is derived from the Greek words for “horse of the river.” Thus, the hippo features whimsically in all of the brewery’s logos and beer label artwork.

*********

We had a pleasant and enjoyable time during our visit at the River Horse Brewing Company…one of the oldest craft breweries in New Jersey. Originally located in Lambertville, NJ, its present location, in Ewing, has a  tasting room that is simple, clean, and comfortable. Along with the main tasting room, there is another room available for private parties or get-togethers. The barrel tables and wooden stools add to the charm of the brewery.

We found our beertenders, Justin and Sean, to be very friendly, personal, and helpful. They served us some great tasting beers such as the “Ear Wiggler” NEIPA and the “Out of the Woods” Märzen. The great tasting brews that are available are all kinds of IPA’s Märzens, ales, lagers, sours, hard tea, hard lemonade, porters, a Belgian Tripel, and a Czech pilsner…a wide assortment to satisfy anyone’s taste! Of course, there are growlers and 4 packs and 6 packs available for purchase as well!

The River Horse Brewing Company is family friendly with lots of board/card games available for everyone…including corn hole! There are several live events sponsored throughout the year such as Comedy nights and other festivities. There is some RHBC merchandise available as well.

If you are in the Ewing area, make it a point to stop by River Horse and enjoy a pint with good friends, family, and other neighborly beer lovers!
