A Fun Fact  About Freehold, New Jersey

*The name of the borough comes from the word Freehold, an English legal term describing fee simple property ownership.

Opened in 2020, we found the Artis Brewery to be an inviting and welcoming place to visit. Our bartender, Freddie, was extremely friendly and charismatic. He was happy to answer our questions and offer us suggestions about the kinds of drinks that were available. There is an adjacent eatery, Char-kol, owned by the same people who own Artis, where you can enjoy some good eats as well.

The interior of Artis is very modern and chic with a charming wooden and stone bar. The building was once an old glass factory…and the original crane and other equipment adds to the decor, as well as the brewing kettles. The wooden tables, scattered around the tasting and eating rooms, are nicely accompanied by comfortable padded seats. There is a nice upper level bar and seating area gives you a birds-eye view of the main tasting area below. 

The drink menu is somewhat limited but we found the brews we had to be wholesome and flavorful. There are stouts, lagers, several kinds of IPA’s, pale ales, hard ciders, and sours just waiting for you to enjoy their deliciousness!

The next time you are in the Freehold area of New Jersey, make it a point of visiting the Artis Brewery. Don’t forget, besides having a good brew, you can also purchase food here and there are specials and events scheduled for every day of the week! You really need to check them out. We are sure you will enjoy your time there!
